Real Experiences From Mathew 14:17 Charters

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My son bought me a charter for Father’s Day. The boat was the biggest, most luxurious fishing vessel I’ve ever been on. Captain and crew, both veteran Coast Guardsmen, were outstanding hosts and excellent sailors. They were very concerned with our fishing experience and our safety. We had a wonderful day pulling in fish and traveling in style. Fully recommended..

~  Donald Bowling

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best fishing day ever!!!! This is our second time with Capt Eric, and he always puts us on fish. Whether you fish all the time or you're a first-timer, he makes sure everyone feels comfortable, confident, and has a great time. The boat is beautiful, awesome gear, and the vibes are always positive. We’ve made some of our best fishing memories thanks to Capt Eric, and we always leave already looking forward to the next trip.

FAQs

Do I need fishing experience to enjoy a charter with Matthew 14:17?

Absolutely not! In fact, over 60% of our five-star reviews come from families who had never held a fishing rod before stepping aboard. Captain Eric and our 1st Mates (1st Mates are on offshore charters only) specialize in turning complete beginners into confident anglers within the first hour. We provide all equipment, handle all the technical details, and celebrate every catch whether it's your first or your fiftieth!

What makes a Christ-led fishing charter different from a regular charter?

While other fishing charters focus solely on fish counts, we measure success differently. Captain Eric weaves faith naturally throughout the experience. Clients often describe it as  "therapy with fishing poles." You'll still catch plenty of fish, but you'll also catch something more valuable: perspective, peace, and renewed purpose.

What's included in the charter price, and are there hidden fees?

Transparency is part of our ministry. Your charter includes everything needed for success: all fishing equipment, bait, tackle, fishing licenses, water, ice, and expert cleaning of your catch. No surprises, no pressure, just honest pricing for an honest day on the water.

When is the best time of year for fishing in Tampa Bay?

God blessed Tampa Bay with year-round fishing, but each season offers unique opportunities. Captain Eric adjusts techniques and locations daily based on conditions, so every trip gives you the best chance for the top catches and comfort.

How far in advance should I book, and what's your cancellation policy?

Our calendar fills up fast! We encourage you to book at least 2-3 weeks in advance, especially for weekend slots. During peak season (October-April), Saturday bookings often reserve a month out. For weather cancellations, Captain Eric makes the final safety call, and you'll receive a full refund or priority rebooking. We want you on the water, but only when it's safe and enjoyable.

What should we bring, and what if someone in our group doesn't want to fish?

Just like Jesus says: come as you are! To make the most of your day on the water, we encourage you to wear comfortable clothes you don't mind getting wet (avoid black soles that mark the deck), bring sunglasses, and pack any personal medications.  For non-fishing family members, our boats offer an air-conditioned cabin, TV, grill, microwave and fridge  (on 40ft boat only), comfortable seating, a canopy shade,  and stunning views.  Many spouses come along just for the boat ride, devotion time, and family bonding.
